 SEATTLE (AP) - A sinkhole swallowed two unoccupied cars Wednesday morning after rushing water from a main break undermined the road, police said.
The sinkhole opened under the end of a busy bridge, which officials closed as a precaution. The bridge is used by about 31,400 cars each day.
The sinkhole blocked residents of more than 50 houseboats from driving to their homes, said Gregg Hirakawa, spokesman for the Seattle transportation department.
