NEW YORK (AP) - The dollar dropped to a near record low against the euro Friday after a U.S. government report showed unemployment rose in April.
The euro rose as high as $1.3610 Friday in New York, within a cent of its all-time high of $1.3681 from April 27, before dropping back to $1.3593. That was up from the $1.3554 it bought late Thursday.
The dollar weakened following a U.S. Labor Department report showing unemployment rose to 4.5 percent in April, with wary employers adding the fewest positions in two and a half years.
