Tenet Healthcare 1Q Profit Up 7 Percent

DALLAS (AP) - Health care services provider Tenet Healthcare Corp. said Tuesday its first-quarter profit rose 7 percent, helped by a hefty income tax-related gain and a slight rise in revenue.

Net income grew to $75 million, or 16 cents per share, from $70 million, or 15 cents per share, a year ago.

Income from continuing operations was $93 million, or 20 cents per share, including a $93 million tax gain, pretax impairment and restructuring charges of $3 million and a $1 million pretax credit for litigation and investigation costs.
