MASERU, Lesotho (AP) - A speeding bus carrying dozens of workers from a textile factory collided with a truck, killing at least 39 people in a remote region of this tiny mountain kingdom, police said Tuesday.
The bus, which was carrying 103 workers from a textile factory, collided with the truck on Monday evening near the village of Haramarupi, about 55 miles north of the capital of Maseru, said Inspector Pheello Mphana, a police spokesman.
He said 39 people were killed immediately and about 54 were treated for various injuries, some of them serious. Three people were taken to a Maseru hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.
