NEW YORK (AP) - Gold and silver slipped Tuesday, pressured by a higher U.S. dollar and as investors focused on Wednesday's Federal Reserve policy meeting.
June gold settled down $3 at $687.40 a troy ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while July silver settled down 4 cents at $13.60.
Analysts at MKS Finance said precious metals were hurt as the euro dipped against the dollar as investors positioned themselves ahead of several central bank meetings this week. The Fed meets Wednesday, while the European Central Bank and the Bank of England meet on Thursday.
