BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A former teacher accused of trying to kill a teenager and leaving her for dead in a park was charged Wednesday with roughing up rescue workers during his apparent suicide attempt.
Samson Shelton, 27, was charged with six felony counts of aggravated battery.
Shelton remained jailed on $200,000 bond Wednesday under suicide watch, segregated from other inmates and wearing a paper outfit, hours after being released from the local hospital.
