Curlin Nips Street Sense on Final Stride

(AP Photo/Al Behrman)BALTIMORE (AP) - With Street Sense still in the lead and the Preakness finish line about 100 yards away, jockey Calvin Borel could hear someone gaining on him and peeked over his right shoulder. "I kept hearing him," Borel said. "And I looked under my arm and saw him."

Whoa! There was trouble all right, and coming right at him: Curlin and Robby Albarado.

Dirt flew, whips flailed and just when it looked as if the Kentucky Derby winner would hang on, Curlin poked his head in front at the wire to win Saturday's Preakness with a hold-your-breath finish.
