HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The governors of Connecticut and California accused the federal government Monday of not taking global warming seriously in refusing to give states more power to regulate pollution.
In an opinion piece published in The Washington Post, Republican Govs. M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut and Arnold Schwarzenegger of California criticized the Environmental Protection Agency for refusing to grant their states and 10 others permission to enact tailpipe emission standards that are tougher than federal rules.
"Even after the Supreme Court ruled in our favor last month, the federal government continues to stand in our way," they wrote.
