FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - The dollar gained on the euro Tuesday despite a surge in German investor and business sentiment that rose to an 11-month high.
The 13-nation euro bought $1.3446 in early afternoon trading, down from the $1.3467 it bought in New York trading late Monday.
Analysts were optimistic that an increase in the monthly index of German investor sentiment would bolster the common currency against the dollar, but it failed to do so.
