DETROIT (AP) - A 22-year-old man was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on charges that he beat and carjacked a 91-year-old Army veteran.
Deonte E. Bradley was arrested May 10, six days after the attack on Leonard Sims. A convenience store surveillance video showing Sims being punched in the head was broadcast on news programs and Web sites.
"He asked for a light for a cigarette, pushed me in the face, then punched so fast, so close, he hit me about 20 times," Sims said during Bradley's preliminary hearing. He testified Wednesday that the punches damaged his hearing.
