TOKYO (AP) - Japan's most-watched consumer price index fell for a third month in April, edging down 0.1 percent, the government said Friday, raising doubts that deflation was really a thing of the past.
The core CPI, excluding volatile food prices, dropped 0.3 percent on year in March after slipping 0.1 percent in February the first drop in 10 months.
The figures, released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, matched the forecasts of economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires and the Japanese business daily Nikkei.
