MOSCOW (AP) - A worker injured in a methane blast in a Siberian coal mine died in the hospital Sunday, bringing the death toll in Russia's latest mine disaster to 39, a government official said.
Doctors were unable to save the 33-year-old man, one of several workers injured in the blast at the Yubileinaya mine Thursday, Kemerovo region administration spokesman Sergei Cheremnov said.
Rescuers pulled the bodies of 38 miners from the mine near Novokuznetsk, some 1,850 miles east of Moscow in a coal-rich area known as the Kuzbass.
