 HONG KONG (AP) - Most Asian markets advanced Monday as Japanese stocks were lifted by gains in metal and machinery shares and Chinese and South Korean markets rose to new records.
Stocks in Hong Kong and Australia ended flat. Trading in many markets was thin due to holidays Monday in the United States, Britain and Germany.
In Tokyo, stocks rebounded from a two-day loss as high copper and other commodities futures in New York on Friday boosted materials producers such as Sumitomo Metal Mining.
