NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - A shootout between suspected robbers and police officers in the Kenyan capital left six people dead, including a 10-year-old boy, police said Monday.
Fifty people have been arrested in connection with the violence, which took place Sunday in a poor neighborhood in northeastern Nairobi, officials said. Paul Ruto, the area police chief, said a child, an elderly man, two police officers and two suspected robbers were killed.
According to a police report, the shootout occurred after three police officers on foot patrol in the Kariobangi North slum arrested two suspected robbers.
