Brown)BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A Minnesota businessman says he was defamed by a fired Wal-Mart executive's claim that he provided favors and services to the chief executive of the retail giant.

Irwin Jacobs, owner of Wal-Mart supplier Jacobs Trading, sued fired Wal-Mart executive Julie Roehm on Friday in Benton County Circuit Court. Jacobs' suit claims that, in a court filing she made as part of her suit against the company, she published false and defamatory statements about the relationship of Jacobs' company with the retailer.

Roehm claimed in May in a court filing in U.S. District Court in Detroit that chief executive Lee Scott violated the company's ethics policy, accepting trips and receiving discounts on yachts and jewelry from Jacobs.
