SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North and South Korea opened working-level talks Thursday to work out a deal swapping raw materials for mineral exploration rights, the South's Unification Ministry said.
The two-day meeting at the North's border city of Kaesong comes a month after Seoul agreed to give Pyongyang $80 million worth of raw materials for making clothes, shoes and soap in exchange for rights to develop mineral resources in the North, the ministry said.
A 10-member South Korean delegation, led by a senior ministry official, will "discuss the prices and number of each raw materials and preparations for a joint study for mineral resources," with their counterparts from the North, Vice Unification Minister Shin Eon-sang told in a briefing.
