HALLE, Germany (AP) - James Blake and Thomas Berdych advanced to the second round of the Gerry Weber Open on Monday.
Blake defeated American teenager Sam Querrey 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and Berdych spoiled Nicolas Kiefer's return from an injury with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win.
The 19-year-old Querrey made mistakes on key points at the Wimbledon warmup tournament.
