NEW YORK (AP) - Oil and gasoline prices rallied Wednesday after the government reported that the nation's gasoline stockpiles remain well below average for this time of year.
Other commodities markets finished mixed. Gold prices fell on a rising U.S. dollar, while corn and wheat prices climbed due to an increase in speculative activity during what has been very volatile trading in the agriculture market so far this week.
Energy traders reacted to a report from the Energy Information Administration that showed the nation's stockpiles of gasoline were flat last week, contrary to the market's consensus forecast for a substantial increase.
