BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Agnes Szavay upset top-seeded Francesca Schiavone 6-1, 6-1 Wednesday in the second round of the Barcelona KIA Open.
The 82nd-ranked Szavay will face American Meghann Shaughnessy in the quarterfinals of the clay-court event. Shaughnessy defeated Laura Pous Tio 7-5, 6-4.
Alla Kudryavtseva advanced with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Emmanuelle Gagliardi. Third-seeded Emilie Loit beat Camille Pin 6-1, 6-1, and Kaia Kanepi eased past Maria Emilia Salerni 6-3, 6-0.
