 HOUSTON (AP) - Carlos Salcido scored off a corner kick in the 60th minute help Mexico beat Panama 1-0 on Wednesday night before a Gold Cup-high crowd of 68,417 fans in the final round of Group C play.
The loss sent Panama, which finished third in the group, to a Saturday quarterfinal match against the United States, the group B winner, in Foxborough, Mass.
Mexico, second in Group C, will play Costa Rica on Sunday in Houston.
