LOS ANGELES (AP) - Taj McWilliams-Franklin tied her season high with 20 points and made two free throws with 12.8 seconds left to help the Los Angeles Sparks rally for a 74-71 victory Wednesday night over Houston in their first game without Chamique Holdsclaw.
"This is a game that, two weeks ago, we probably would have lost," Sparks coach Michael Cooper said. "Teams that haven't won are the most dangerous because they have nothing to lose."
LaToya Thomas added 16 points, Murriel Page scored 13 points and Mwadi Mabika had nine rebounds for the Sparks (4-2), who hadn't played since Holdsclaw abruptly retired Monday.
