BERLIN (AP) - The dollar slid against the 13-nation euro Friday, after Washington reported consumer prices shot up at the fastest pace in 20 months in May.
In afternoon trading, the euro bought $1.3337, up from $1.3307 in late New York trading the day before.
Compared to the Japanese yen, the dollar broke through its December 2002 high of 123.13 yen to purchase 123.52 yen. The rise came after comments from the Bank of Japan governor suggested the central bank was unlikely to hike rates in July.
