WASHINGTON (AP) - The World Bank's board wants to meet Wednesday with Robert Zoellick, President Bush's choice to run the poverty-fighting institution.
The board, in a statement released late Monday, invited Zoellick to an informal meeting "to discuss key issues of interest ... including the challenges of development, the World Bank Group's governance and leadership as well as future strategic directions."
The president in late May tapped Zoellick to succeed Paul Wolfowitz, who will step down June 30. The selection of Zoellick must be approved by the World Bank's 24-member board.
