MILWAUKEE (AP) - Prince Fielder hit his NL-leading 26th home run, Yovani Gallardo dazzled in his major league debut and the Milwaukee Brewers held off the struggling San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Monday night.
Barry Bonds, with 748 career home runs, went 1-for-2 with a double in the sixth and two walks as San Francisco lost its fifth game in a row. The Giants have lost 17 of 23 overall.
Mixing a 94 mph fastball with changeups 15 mph slower, the 21-year-old Gallardo (1-0) silenced the rest of the Giants' sputtering offense and allowed just the one hit to Bonds from the second through the sixth inning.
