 SAN DIEGO (AP) - Rookie Jeremy Guthrie shut down San Diego on four hits over eight innings and the Baltimore Orioles beat the NL West-leading Padres 7-1 on Wednesday night, snapping a nine-game losing streak.
It was the first win for interim manager Dave Trembley. He replaced Sam Perlozzo, who was fired on Monday. The Orioles lost 12-6 in the series opener on Tuesday night.
The last-place Orioles handed Justin Germano his first loss in eight starts since coming up from the minor leagues, opening the game with three runs on four hits before the right-hander got his first out. Germano had won five straight decisions.
