 CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Jeff Gordon helicoptered into the race track, escorted four friends to his motorhome and instructed them where they could find food and beer. Then he slid into the back of a waiting SUV set to shuttle him to a full schedule of pre-race appearances. The buzzing of his cell phone interrupted his conversation, as Gordon fumbled to answer it quickly.
"Hey, baby," he cooed to his wife, Belgian model Ingrid Vandebosch, "I miss you.'"
Gordon's personal life has never been better, and his professional life is on track for a fifth NASCAR championship. With the addition of his first child — Ella Sofia was born Wednesday — Gordon now must figure out how to juggle both.
