CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Chad Marshall, Ned Grabavoy and Alejandro Moreno scored as the Columbus Crew played one man down for more than 60 minutes to earn a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night.
"It's a tremendous boost to our confidence," Columbus coach Sigi Schmid said. "We had so many bad breaks. All that this team needed was confidence. All that this team needed was a chance to believe in themselves."
Marshall gave the Crew (3-4-6) a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute with a 7-yard header off Guillermo Barros Schelotto's 22-yard free kick. Schelotto earned his sixth assist to tie for the Major League Soccer lead.
