BERLIN (AP) - The dollar rose against the euro as the British pound toyed with the $2 mark on Monday the start of a week heavy on U.S. economic data.
The 13-nation euro bought $1.3441 in morning European trading, down from $1.3466 in New York late Friday. The pound rose as high as $1.9999 before settling back to $1.9987 slightly below its Friday level of $1.9994.
U.S. economic data are being watched closely for hints on the Federal Reserve's future interest rate course.
