ROCHESTER, Ind. (AP) - Environmental officials believe progress is being made against an invasive weed found in a northern Indiana, though more chemicals will likely need to be applied.
Boating access to Lake Manitou remains restricted while crews work to eliminate hydrilla, which was found in the lake last summer, said Doug Keller, coordinator for invasive aquatic species with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Recent plant sampling has found damage to the hydrilla as herbicide has been applied to the lake about 40 miles south of South Bend.
