SHANGHAI, China (AP) - China banned 10 types of drugs for exaggerated effectiveness amid growing concerns about fake and tainted products, a newspaper reported Friday.
While the drugs were genuine, the results they claimed in fighting high blood pressure, diabetes, and other ailments could not be supported by clinical testing, the Beijing News reported.
The newspaper did not say whether any of the drugs were exported. Phones rang unanswered Friday at China's main food safety regulator, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
