NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Islanders finally found free agents willing to sign, inking All-Star forward Bill Guerin to a two-year contract and center Mike Comrie to a one-year deal on a busy Thursday.
Guerin, a four-time All-Star, scored 36 goals last season while splitting time with the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks. He joins a team that suddenly is rebuilding after losing forwards Ryan Smyth, Jason Blake, Richard Zednik, Viktor Kozlov and defenseman Tom Poti since the free-agent signing period began last Sunday.
Comrie had 20 goals and 25 assists in 65 games with Ottawa, then added two goals and six points during the Senators' run to the Stanley Cup finals.
