A-Rod Returns to Yankees Starting Lineup

Friday, July 06, 2007 7:07:34 PM

New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez, who leads the major leagues with 28 homers and 80 RBI's flies out to center field in the sixth inning of the Yankees 6-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins in a baseball game at Yankee Stadium in New York, Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Rodriguez, who tweaked a hamstring in the Yankees 5-1 loss to the Twins Monday, will try to end his 0-19 drought, the longest batting slump of the season for Rodriguez, when the Yankees wrap up a four-game series with the Twins Thursday. Rodriguez was the leading vote-getter for the All Star game. He'll go to San Francisco for the game, but is undecided about whether he'll play. (AP Photo/Kathy Willens)NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez returned to the starting lineup for the New York Yankees on Friday night, though his status for next week's All-Star game remained uncertain.

Rodriguez missed his first game of the season Thursday because of a strained left hamstring. An MRI exam came back normal.

Rodriguez made two nice plays at third base in the top of the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels, then broke a season-worst 0-for-19 slump by doubling to lead off the bottom half. He leads the majors with 28 home runs and 80 RBIs.
