 PHOENIX (AP) - Cappie Pondexter hit a 14-foot shot with 2.1 seconds left in the second overtime to lift the Phoenix Mercury to a 111-109 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night.
Connecticut (6-11) failed to get a shot off in the final seconds to lose for the ninth time in 11 games.
Penny Taylor led the Mercury with 30 points while Pondexter added 25, including 19 in the second half and overtimes. Tangela Smith and Diana Taurasi added 18 for Phoenix (11-7).
