 LOS ANGELES (AP) - Russell Martin tuned up for his first All-Star appearance with a lot of offense before taking the rest of the day off.
Martin went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer, three RBIs, three runs scored and a walk, Andre Ethier added a three-run shot and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Florida Marlins 9-3 on Sunday to avoid a sweep heading into the break.
The Dodgers had lost four in a row and seven of their last 11 before salvaging the finale of the three-game series.
