LONDON (AP) - Pirate attacks are increasing off the coast of East Africa, disrupting the flow of food and medicine to Somalis in desperate need of humanitarian aid, the United Nations said Tuesday.
Two U.N. agency chiefs called for international action to stop pirates from terrorizing Somalia's coastal waters.
"The continuing incidence of acts of piracy and armed robbery in these waters is of great concern," Efthimios Mitropoulos, the International Maritime Organization's secretary-general, said at a London briefing.
