SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - While the Giants wait for Barry Bonds to hit another long ball, the Los Angeles Dodgers played small ball to beat their archrival again. The Dodgers scored twice on squeeze bunts and held Bonds without a hit all series, winning their 11th straight game in San Francisco with a 5-3 victory Sunday.
Bonds' legs are sore and it shows. The slugger's hitless stretch reached a season-worst 20 at-bats with an 0-for-5 showing his longest period without a hit since his record-breaking 2001 season.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy suggested his star player might be too "pull conscious." When asked about that, Bonds said, "That's not it."
