 PHOENIX (AP) - Brandon Webb threw seven shutout innings for his first win in nearly a month and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Florida Marlins 7-0 on Wednesday night.
Chris Young homered and Scott Hairston was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Diamondbacks, who won their fifth straight to move within 1 1/2 games of the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
Webb walked the bases full in the first — the only three walks he issued — but settled down to scatter six hits and strike out eight. He had lost his past three decisions and had not won since June 27 against Los Angeles.
