MONROVIA, Liberia (AP) - Civil servants in Liberia will soon be required to take biometric scans, a move designed to curb fraud so rife that the government found 7,000 fake names on its payrolls, officials said Friday.
Civil Service Agency Director-General William Allen told The Associated Press the new system will scan the fingerprints, eyes and faces of all government employees.
"The key point is to establish the true identities of people so that once a person tells you ... you are sure, you cannot have duplications," Allen said.
