LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was mostly up against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold was lower.
The euro traded at $1.4143, down from $1.4238 late Monday in New York. Earlier Monday, the euro hit an all-time high of $1.4283. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.4158.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Monday, included 115.79 Japanese yen, up from 115.77; 1.1764 Swiss francs, up from 1.1687; and 1.0009 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0089.
