MONTREAL (AP) - Cory Stillman and Matt Cullen scored power-play goals and the Carolina Hurricanes spoiled Montreal's home opener with a 3-1 win over the Canadiens on Saturday night.
Cam Ward made 23 saves for Carolina, which has won three straight road games in Canada since losing the opener of its current six-game trip. Ward improved to 4-0-1 in five starts.
Montreal's Chris Higgins scored his first goal of the season 1:12 in to kick off the Canadiens' 98th home opener.
