ANORA, Canary Islands (AP) - A boatload of 59 dazed and exhausted African men arrived Tuesday in the Canary Islands, the latest wave in a constant flood of desperate migrants seeking a better life in Europe.
The boat containing the Africans, including four minors, arrived at Las Galletas beach in the southern part of Tenerife, an Interior Ministry spokesman said.
Forty of the men were detained minutes after they set foot on the stony beach, while the rest managed to run away initially from police but were arrested hours later at the dock.
