GENEVA (AP) - Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan had to postpone a mediation trip to Kenya because of flu and is recuperating, a U.N. official said Wednesday.
Annan was on his way to the airport in Geneva on Tuesday for a flight to Nairobi when he "was taken ill with severe flu," his office said. On advice of doctors, he postponed his mission to Nairobi for a few days.
"He's recovering at home," said Marie Heuze, spokeswoman for the United Nations in Geneva, noting that Switzerland is currently in the middle of a flu outbreak. "It's nothing serious."
