LUANDA, Angola (AP) - Angola extradited to Nigeria a man accused of leading a militant group that attacked foreign workers and installations in Africa's largest oil nation, an official said Friday.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta began kidnapping oil company employees and sabotaging facilities about two years ago. The disruptions have contributed to the reduction of nearly a quarter of Nigeria's crude oil production.
The group's alleged leader, Henry Okah, was returned to Nigeria on Thursday, Angola's Foreign Ministry spokesman Chitas Junior told The Associated Press. He declined to provide further details.
