DALLAS (AP) - Southern Methodist University's selection as the site of George W. Bush's presidential library is nearly official, after more than a year as the lone finalist, a spokesman said Thursday.
SMU trustees vote Friday on the final agreement with the Bush Foundation, and the official announcement is expected later that day, said Taylor Griffin, a spokesman for the library site selection committee.
The 11,000-student, Methodist-affiliated university has been the only candidate for 14 months. It is first lady Laura Bush's alma mater and both Bushes are Methodist.
