PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (AP) - Gunmen released a German worker seized during an attack on a highway construction crew in oil-rich southern Nigeria, police said Wednesday.
The attack by unidentified gunmen Tuesday left one soldier dead. It marked the first seizure this year of a foreign worker in the restive oil region, where more than 150 expatriates were kidnapped in 2007.
Rivers State police spokeswoman Ireju Barasua said the man was handed over unhurt to government officials overnight.
