GENEVA (AP) - The 103 children whom French aid workers were convicted of trying to smuggle out of Chad will be reunited with their families in the coming days, the U.N. children's agency said Friday.
The children have been in an orphanage in the eastern Chadian town of Abeche since late October when the aid workers tried to fly the children to France, describing them as war orphans from neighboring Sudan's war-torn Darfur region.
Investigations showed the children were Chadian, not Sudanese, and that most of the children had at least one parent or close adult relative.
