WASHINGTON (AP) - Alex Ovechkin scored his NHL-leading 55th and 56th goals, including the tiebreaker with 1:54 left, and Olie Kolzig earned his 300th win in the Washington Capitals' 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.
Ovechkin broke a 2-2 tie in the closing minutes with a power-play goal. He fired a shot from just inside the blue line, slightly to the right of center, that got past goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.
The Capitals earned a needed win after two tough losses.
