MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Gunmen killed four policemen and a security guard in attacks Thursday, a day after the prime minister said his government was ready to talk with the increasingly active military wing of an Islamic extremist group.
Unidentified gunmen fired on a vehicle carrying medical supplies, killing a police officer, a security guard and wounding two Somali staff members of Medecins Sans Frontieres, said police officer Aden Mohamed Hassan. He said the attack happened in northern Mogadishu.
Susan Sandars, a spokeswoman for the group also known as Doctors Without Borders, said one of the staff members was seriously injured.
