Ball From Bonds' 762nd Homer to Be Sold

Friday, March 14, 2008 2:07:10 AM
By PAT GRAHAM

Jameson Sutton of Boulder, Colo., shows the ball that was hit by Barry Bonds for his record-setting 762nd home run on Sept. 5, 2007, in Coors Field in Denver, during a news conference to announce that the ball is up for auction on Thursday, March 13, 2008, in Denver. Sutton, 24, has enlisted the services of SCP Auctions to put the ball up for an online auction starting on March 31 and running through April 12, 2008. Auction officials predict that the selling price of the ball, which was the last home run hit by Bonds, could approach $1 million. (AP Photo/David Zalubowski)DENVER (AP) - After snaring the baseball Barry Bonds hit for career homer No. 762, Jameson Sutton stored it in the safest place he could think of — deep inside his closet.

"I didn't tell anyone," he said.

The 24-year-old from Boulder quickly moved the baseball into a safety deposit box after the season was finished, realizing its potential worth. And with Bonds still looking for a place to play this season, Sutton decided to come forward with the ball.
