TOKYO (AP) - A strong earthquake struck a remote island southeast of Tokyo, the Meteorological Agency said Saturday. There were no immediate reports of damage.
The magnitude 6.3 temblor struck at 7:32 a.m. Saturday near the remote island of Chichijima, about 600 miles southeast of Tokyo.
The agency the quake had the potential to trigger a very small, nondestructive tsunami, but no change in sea level had been observed three hours after the quake.
